From Escape to the Country to The Sea Glass Studio: My Journey Since 2022

A Surreal Jewellery Moment

Back in 2022, I had one of those wonderfully surreal moments where life as a jewellery designer took an unexpected turn. I was invited to appear on Escape to the Country.

If you caught Series 23, Episode 2, you might have spotted me in a small segment nestled between the house viewings. Rather than searching for a home, I was there to share a glimpse into life as a creative jewellery designer living and working in Cornwall.

Filming on a Classic Cornish Day

Filming took place on one of those classic Cornish days, shifting light, salty air and that calm that makes this place endlessly inspiring. I’ll admit, having cameras around while talking about my work felt a little outside my comfort zone at first.

Once I began speaking about my jewellery, everything fell into place. I shared how deeply Cornwall influences my designs. Living by the coast isn’t just a backdrop, it shapes every piece I create.

A New Studio and The Sea Glass Studio

Since filming, quite a lot has changed.. In the best way! I moved just three doors down into a bigger, brighter studio that truly suits the needs of my growing business. I’d been dreaming of enough room not just to create but to share the process with others.

That’s how The Sea Glass Studio was born. 👀 You’ll still find me on Jubilee Wharf, Commercial Road, Penryn, where I run jewellery making workshops alongside my own design work.

Teaching has become a meaningful part of what I do, welcoming people into the studio and guiding them through creating their own jewellery.

Workshops and Recognition

After filming my jewellery making workshops have been recognised with a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award, placing them in the top 10% of experiences worldwide. Something I’m incredibly proud of! ✨

Would you like to try jewellery making for yourself? You can explore and book a workshop on Eventbrite.

Continuing My Jewellery Journey

Alongside teaching, I’m still focused on designing and making jewellery for my website and stockists. I’m endlessly inspired by the Cornish coastline, beachcombing whenever I can, searching for sea glass treasures that find their way into my designs.

And then there’s Albie, my darling cat, who completely stole the show. I still can’t get over the fact he appeared on Escape to the Country primetime television and has since been broadcast worldwide. He’s officially famous now and he knows it! 😂

A Moment to Remember

Looking back, being part of Escape to the Country is something I’ll always feel grateful for. It marked a moment in time just before this next chapter unfolded, a chapter that has grown into something even more meaningful than I could have imagined.

If you watched the episode, thank you so much for supporting me. If not, maybe one day you’ll stumble across Series 23, Episode 2 and catch a glimpse of where this journey was just beginning.

All my love,
Sadie
